How we check the figures on this site

Every rate, threshold and deadline here comes from the law as published or from the government department that applies it. Here is how that works, and what to do if you spot a mistake.

Where our figures come from

We take figures from the Cyprus laws as published, and from the departments that apply them: the Tax Department, the Social Insurance Services, the Migration Department, the Health Insurance Organisation and, for the UK rules we mention, HM Revenue & Customs. We read the source itself before a figure goes on a page. Other websites, including other tax guides, are never a source. Neither is anything without a named author and a date.

What the copper mark means

A copper mark next to a figure means we traced it to the law or to the department that applies it. At the foot of each page with figures you'll find every source we used and the date we checked it. The mark tells you where a figure comes from. It doesn't tell you the figure applies to your case: that depends on your situation, and that is what a licensed adviser is for.

When the rules aren't clear

Tax law isn't always clear, and official documents sometimes contradict each other. When that happens, we say so on the page and give both readings. We don't pick one and present it as settled, and we don't show it as a figure until it is.

When the law changes

Cyprus changed many of its tax rules from 2026. Every page with figures shows when its sources were last checked, and every source the date we checked it. When we learn that a rule has changed, we update the pages it affects.

Found a mistake?

Write to hello@taxesincyprus.com and tell us the page and the figure. We check it against the source, and if we got it wrong, we correct the page.
